Ephesians 1.15-21

Paul now launches into a pretty epic prayer for the Ephesians in vv.15-22. Praying for them because their faith in the Lord Jesus and [their] love toward all the saints travelled beyond their own borders (v.15) Paul does not cease to give thanks for them (v.16). He prays that they come to know, to confirm and affirm, three things (vv.17-18);

  1. That the Ephesians know what is the hope to which God has called them (v.18).
  2. That they know what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints (v.18).
  3. That they know what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places… (vv.19-21).

These are powerful prayers to pray for the Ephesians, for anyone. Paul wants his people to know all there is to know about our great God, all that he can pass on. Paul wants the Ephesians, and I believe that God wants you, to know without a shadow of a doubt that yours should be a life filled with hope (v.18), that your best is yet to come (v.18), and that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now available to you (vv.19-21).
